Do you feel as though your body is bound in chains?
Are you at an all time low and don’t know what else to do?
Are you suffering from an addiction?
Do you feel like a prisoner in your situation?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, then this post is for you!
There are so many amazing things that God promises us. Too many to count really. Now I know what you are thinking, “She doesn’t know what I’m going through.” “Her situation is different than mine.” Yes, of course our situations are not the same, but that doesn’t mean that this verse isn’t for you! I have been in the position where I feel like there is nothing else that I can physically, emotionally, or mentally do. I have turned to God for help during my situation and yes, I felt like he was not there when I needed him. The truth is, He was there! I was just too caught up in my situation that I didn’t even try to notice his presence. We tend to only acknowledge God when he gives us everything we ask for, but what about when he isn’t answering us when we want him to? We get so deep into our situation that we block out Gods word. The situation that we are facing feels like our hands and feet are chained down, and we just can’t seem to break out. There is nothing that is ever too difficult for God to handle. His love is abundant and He can break us free from whatever it is we are facing. Psalms 107: tells us that when we cry out to God in our times of trouble, He will break us out of our chains because He loves us. It doesn’t matter how deep we are in our troubles. We may be stuck in our situation but are good at hiding it in public. We may be stuck in chains and look like the devil has had his way with you, BUT God is still there with us.
Now let me tell you this, a lot of us do not want to walk into a church during our troubled times because we don’t want to be seen as down and out, especially when everyone else is nicely dressed and appears that their lives are perfect! It is easy to cover up our problems with being well-dressed and putting a smile on our face. We want to look our best at church because we want to look presentable to God (But that’s just our own doing). God does not care what we look like when we walk into Church. He cares about whether or not we are laying our problems down at the altar, so that He can take us out of our situation. When we bow down at his feet and pray for healing from an addiction, pray for strength, pray for our finances, and pray for our situation to get better, God will answer! God wants us to ask him for help. We don’t need to be as faithful as the ones we see in church. We only need a tiny ounce of faith, even as small as just believing that God is real, and that is a start for him! Call out to God in prayer about your life in chains. He is waiting for you to call out to him!
If you are unsure of how to pray, here is an idea of how to start.
I ask you to free me from ________. I tried it on my own and I can’t do it. I need your help God! I can’t take my situation anymore. Thank you for all you have done in my life. I believe that you can set me free!
In your name,
